Shiiping Decks This Week!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 28, 2019 at 11:20:33 PM

Hello everyone,

I am happy to finally announce the OmenQuest card decks are going to be mailed out this week. Domestic US backers' decks will be going out tomorrow, Tuesday the 28th and International backers' decks will be the next day! I've been told you should look out for an email with your tracking number.

This final stretch had some unexpected setbacks as another game arrived at the warehouse just before us and had priority being sent out. Also, if you haven't heard about the blackouts in Northern California already, we have had some challenging days here in Humboldt with no electricity or internet so communication with the warehouse has had some lulls at times as the decks have arrived and have been preparing to send out.

This may be one of the last updates for a bit unless something important is slipping my mind, but I want to take this moment to tell you how grateful I am for all of the support you have put forth. Thank you so much as we couldn't have done this without you. It has been an amazing experience and I count myself as lucky and blessed to have all of you in this journey.

While it may seem like we are just about to arrive upon something, we are actually setting forth to meet a whole new set of challenges. It is time to share OmenQuest with the world. I have to figure out how to really market them, but you can help by carrying your deck with you in your pocket or purse. Play with them often, sharing them with friends and family. Photograph your favorite Hi-Qs and other games and post them with your poems. Use the hashtags #OmenQuest #HiQ and any that seem relevant. For some extra publicity, maybe some poets, rappers, and comedians will want to make some videos. Perhaps, I'm looking at you? I probably am looking at you. I am also looking for educators and therapists who would like to use OmenQuest cards in their practice and who would share their experiences with other like-minded professionals. I'm sure there are more strategies that you may be thinking of now so by all means, message me your brainstorms.

Again, thank you all for your sustained support and patience and I will be in touch. And be sure to look out for your special easter egg card hinting at the future of OmenQuest!

xoxo, Isaac

The Decks Are Awaiting Their Boat!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 02, 2019 at 11:56:24 PM

Hello everyone,

It is well past time for an update, but so much has been in the air that I haven't been sure what to update you on. But now I can say the OmenQuest decks are paid in full and are awaiting their boat to cross the Pacific Ocean. I've been told it can be a whole week on the docks before they board the ship. After that, I understand the trip is about three weeks and then they spend another week to be processed by customs. Then, they will finally be mailed out!

I truly appreciate all of your continued patience as I figure out how this all works.

If you haven't completed your Survey follow this link and do so now. If you need to change your address or change your order, you can follow that same link above and request a new survey. After that an email will be sent to you and you should be able to change your address on the final "Give Thanks" page of the process.

For those of you who ordered the 5 pack, I have created a new option for a six-pack for only $10 more! Follow the same process above to upgrade your order.

Once again, thank you all for your continued response and look out for your special "Easter Egg" card hinting at the future of OmenQuest. This card is only available in this print edition of the OmenQuest World Deck!

xoxo ~ Isaac

P.S. If you have any shops in your area that you think would appreciate OmenQuest send me a message and I will add them to the list. So far OmenQuest cards will be at game stores, toy stores, art supply stores, book stores, metaphysical supply stores, and natural groceries! All because of you!

Updates & Learning Curves
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 30, 2019 at 07:56:00 PM

Greetings everyone!

It has been a long and winding road but I have so much I can tell you so that everyone can know when and where to expect their decks of cards. During this time I have have been discovering the depths of my ignorance and have been learning a lot to compensate. I must confess the learning curve is steep. Before reading on, if you are a part of the 16% of backers who haven't finished your shipping address backer survey, do it now!

It turns out all the rumors are true, China is pretty much closed for business for the month of Chinese New Year. Thankfully, it was during that time that I became aware that I needed to switch to an accrual accounting method if I was to not be taxed for the money collected in our campaign. Taxes are difficult and the good news is applied for the accounting method switch I haven't been audited yet. So maybe I did it all correctly. I will likely need a CPA for this next year to straighten it all out. Fingers crossed, so to speak (it is hard to cross fingers and type at the same time).

Next I had to register with the GS1 conglomerate to receive personalized UPC codes for the decks to go to retail. This had consisted of some online courses and some rather confusing user interface on their website. After that I needed to design and redesign the box to include a child safety warning, publishing identification for export and the European import emblem. It is a rather small box of cards, so fitting all this information took some finagling. Somewhere during all of this we also mage the box smaller so that the cards would shake around less on the inside. An important feature if we want these to be portable.

While I was doing all this, I had a trademark dispute from another game claiming ownership of the name OmenQuest. I had to consult with a lawyer and write some letters and we won the dispute arbitrated by Kickstarter as I have been selling OmenQuest cards for nine years and the other game is not yet in actual trade. That was a lot of stress and kind of put everything on hold for a few weeks.

The next piece of the puzzle has been trying to solve the retail shelf size problem. I had intended to make the box two the width of two cards so that the face of the box takes up more shelf space, but the result of this was a box not deep enough stand on its bottom edge. Going back to the single-card-wide-box could risk the box being lost amidst other larger boxes at stores. To solve this, I designed a Point of Purchase (POP) display box that will command more shelf space.  A dozen pack was my initial plan, but several potential retailers thought the entry price for those was too high and asked me to bring the size of the box down. I next tried a six-pack POP display, but that size is a little more pricey. There is a good chance that I will stick with this size for the vendor's sake, but I am investigating the pricing of a nine pack and am in talks with retailers about how that will work for them.

All of that said, I can finally say with both confidence and apologies that the decks will be here in the beginning of August. Within weeks from now I will have the first pre-porduction deck and will share pictures of it when it comes.

Thanks for your love and patience,

Isaac

P.S. If you know anyone that wants more cards be sure to share this link with them. It is not too late to get more. In the off-chance that I can sell another 111 decks this week I will up the production order! Anyone want another hundred decks?

We are so close to setting all the dominoes falling
about 5 years ago – Sat, Jan 12, 2019 at 12:45:33 AM

I've made a lot of big moves this week toward getting the cards printed. Figuring out details like how many decks per shipping carton is an adventure in itself. I have completed all the graphics and everything's been proof read. Next we are buying a UPC bar-code to sell the decks in retail stores. We are so close. If only I had another two thousand dollars right now I would up the order by another thousand decks. I really do think we have the potential to sell out of all 1500 before they even arrive!

If anyone has any ideas, I always love those!

Don't forge to take your survey. (18% of you still have to)

And be sure to keep sharing the pre-order page !

Here is where we are at...

The Backerkit Survey where you can finalize your order is done and half of the people who were sent the survey in a test run have completed it. I will go forward regardless and send it out to all of you this weekend.

Meanwhile, I have completed the PDF files for the new expanded 92 card deck with a set of 8 cards with game rules and general directions, as well as the box. The order will soon be officially placed and I am hoping that we will see the cards being printed at the end of February at the latest.

Look out for your survey and fill it out as soon as you can. I believe it is something you can update after you fill it out. You can up your order at any time! As I see it, one can never have more decks than one knows people who could use a deck.

Expecting the decks in June.

xoxo
